| The origin of the small village dates back tp the Etruscan and Roman period when the hill of Certaldo was used as a small defence station. Later in 1300 century Certaldo gave birth to one of the most important European poets; Boccaccio who inspired the novels of Chaucer. Certaldo is a pearl, a unique village for a lifetime of beautiful wedding memories.
Civil weddings in Certaldo are celebrated in the beautiful Palazzo Pretorio, a 13 th century charming building. The ceremony can take place in the outdoor courtyard. The facade, the entrance-hall and the courtyard of the Pretorio Palace have got the signs of all the Vicars, and the beautiful armorial bearings of glazed earthenware mode by bottega dei Della Robbia. Only civil weddings are allowed. Weddings are performed by the Mayor of Town or Civil registrar. You can add personal vows, readings and poems to the ceremony. Possibility to perform weddings from Monday till Saturday. Morning and afternoon weddings. You can decorate the marriage room with beautiful flower arrangements following your personal taste and specifications.
Any classical music is allowed. Violin or Harp are the most recommended to add a personal and unique elegance and ambience to your wedding. During the signing of the register they fill in the silences yet permitting the conversation.

Certaldo offers many reception sites venues in the area. The small town most famous venue is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely outdoor terrace facing the romantic Tuscan hills.
